Shihan Albert Andrews Biography
Albert A. Andrews was born in Trinidad and Tobago on March 5th 1965.
He began training in the Don Jitsu Ryu System with Professor Don
Jacob in 1978 in Trinidad at the Chaguanas Branch. He currently holds
the rank of 6th Dan.
In 1988 he graduated from the Faculty of Engineering
with a degree in Land Surveying at the University of the West Indies
in Trinidad.
In 1989 he move to work in Tortola, B.V.I. and with
the permission and blessings of his instructor Shihan Albert, started
the Tortola, British Virgin Islands Branch in 1990. According to
Shihan, "In the 10 wonderful years that followed we produced
many Black Belts who represented the BVI and Purple Dragon
International all over the Caribbean, USA and Canada and won many
World Championship Titles, we also hosted 5 successful International
Purple Dragon BVI Open Karate Championships".
After
migrating to Florida in 2000 he assisted in the dynamic growth of the
Miami branches adding the Jupiter Branch in 2001. At that time the
dojo was located inside of the Lady of America gym where Shihan
Albert taught Tybo-Karobics (Developed by Professor Jacob), Yoga and
kickbox boot camp.
With the experience of being a kindergarten
teacher, he developed his Kindergarten Karate program for 3 and 4 yr
old which has been successful at Jupiter Montessori Academy,
Jupiter Academy, The Professional Learning Center in Jupiter and now
at the Batt School for International Leadership, instilling
confidence, fitness, fun, discipline and Self Defense.
In
2005 he opened his own dojo in Palm Beach Garden and has students who
travel from as far North as Stuart, as far west as Jupiter Farms and
as far south as Riviera Beach to train.
Shihan Albert Migrated to Florida in 2000 where he assisted in the
dynamic growth of Purple Dragon Miami branches and started the Purple
Dragon Jupiter Branch in 2001 which he still operates.
Shihan Albert introduced the S.M.A.R.T. ( School Martial Arts
Response Training) Program in 2006 at the Batt School for
International Leadership in Juno Beach, Florida using the Don Jitsu
Ryu System with great success.
He has Hosted 7 South Florida Mini Slam Karate tournaments.
Hosting Professor Don Jacob as our Special Guest.
In June of 2008 Shihan Albert along with other Purple Dragon
Shihans and Senseis was inducted in to World Sokiship's Hall of Fame
as MASTER INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR.

- Grand Champion Kata, Weapons & Sparring in the Grand Cayman open Championships 1991
- Inducted into the Caribbean Martial Arts Hall of Fame 1992
